Bicycles in Discovery Bay -- parking?

Hey folks! I have two questions about the internal transport in DB.

First of all, might seem like a stupid question, but do you have to pay every time you use the internal minibus to go, around the complex? Or is it a free regular running service that you can just jump on and jump off? I wasn't able to find that info on the DB website.

Second of all, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me about bicycles in DB. If I'm living in one of the further-away phases -- meaning further away from the ferry -- can I park my bike somewhere close to the ferry on the morning?

If someone could enlighten me about these internal transport questions, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

the internal buses cost $3.5 each and run in sync with the ferries, so if you get on the bus, you'll make it to the ferry.

you can park you bike near the beach...although in this hot and humid or rainy weather, you probably won't want to be riding the bike, then getting on the ferry... you'll be soaking wet either way!

    Hey! Thanks for the reply.

Actually I've been living in Japan about a year now so I've acquired the useful skill of riding my bike in the rain with the handlebars in one hand and an umbrella in the other!

The minibuses (aka hired cars) are $10, the regular buses are $3.5. Bikes can indeed be parked in a rack between beach and residents club.

No, there is no bicycle rental service in DB - it's a residential area after all. If you want to do a bit of cycling you are better off going to Mui Wo. The friendly bicycle shop (around the corner of the China Bear) rents out all kind of bikes.

Bike shop in TungChung's web market

There is a bike shop in Tung Chung Fu Tung Estate's wet market which do rent out bikes. It is cheaper to just buy a folding bike from them. I paid $350 HKD 2 years ago for one which came with a bag. Note that Fu Tung Estate is in Tung Chung, next to the MTR station.

I know that cars are not allowed in Discovery bay, but what about motorcycles? Or owning a motorcycle but having it parked somewhere else that is allowed?

motorcycles are also banned, even the small electric bicycles....of course you can own a car or motorcycle as long as you park it outside of DB (eg. in Tung Chung)
