    Delivery Service

Since DB only has one shopping center, and the area from south to north is quite large, how many residents would be interested in a mobile shopping service? The idea is to have a delivery truck with usual products such as milk, bread, eggs, and baked goods, and a few other common items; making daily or several times a week delivery to the residential areas. This could save valuable time running to the Plaza for just few things. Details have not been worked out, but it might be possible to start up this type of service.

Any feedback or suggestions will be welcomed.

If I was living in DB, I wouldn't use it, plenty of other expat locations out in the NT also suffer the same situation, which teaches you to be better organized, doing one big shop a week.

Single people tend to shop on a daily basis, and DB definitely isn't going to be a target rich demographic, when most families have a domestic helper who does all the shopping anyway, or sent out on a specific errand to pick up milk/bread from 7 eleven, if the need arrives..

I'd give you 3 to 2 odds of not being successful.

Thanks for the input, Skyhook. I think you are right, but will give the poll a few days. I made a mistake in that it is not a delivery service I had in mind, but rather having a small grocery truck making rounds with basic items for sale: such as milk, bread, cakes, and maybe a few other essentials. That way the helpers or wives can just run down to get it and not go all the way to the Plaza. Park N Shop would be the manger and sponsor, and I am just polling to see it it has merit. But I agree, Hong Kong is not ready for this type service.

    What an extraordinarily sexist comment!

Every household I know has at least one person who passes through the plaza twice a day anyway so picking things up is rarely a problem.

Evidently this was the wrong way to ask for opinions and see if there was any interest. KIA or PDLM, please delete this post. It was unnecessary, as far as I can tell from the three replies.

What makes you think that is something within my power? I'm simply a user of Geoexpat just like you...

Not really. Lots of reality in that comment, if you know the sort of Stepford wives community that DB is.

I'm not sure how I should feel about that...

For some reason, I seem to think of an ice-cream truck when I try to envisage this idea. I think it might work.
