Looking for tutoring and babysitting opportunities

    Hello all!

I recently moved here from the US, and am beginning my postgraduate studies at HKU this fall. I'm looking for opportunities to earn a little extra money during the weekend. I live near Tong Fuk beach so I'd prefer to stay on Lantau since I'll be commuting so far during the week. I'm sorry if this is a bad place to post, but I would really appreciate any extra help!

    Thanks so much

    Olivia

Firstly, what do you plan to teach?

Secondly, do you have any teaching qualifications?

Thirdly, are you on a dependent visa or have PR?

    Hello!

I intend to teach English, and if needed, basic math.

I have ample babysitting experience with young children, and I received my TEFL certification from CCELT.

I will have a student visa starting in September.

I take it you have read the conditions of your student visa? The one that states you are not allowed to work, except as an intern or on campus, or during summer holidays. I'm sure plenty do, but as many expats are not permanent residents themselves they also run risks in employing illegals. All it takes is one grumpy nosey neighbour...

You won't be able to teach legally so please consider your options carefully. There are numerous threads here discussing tutoring and the legal implications if caught.

While the chances of getting caught are low the punishment if caught is quite severe.
