    Unhappy doctor know?

hi there, need some urgent help.
i've been coughing and breathless for the past 4 weeks. been to 3 docs and all they do is pump me up with antibiotics and cough syrup.
i desperately need a good doctor who is great with throat, cough, breathing problems, preferably in the central / western district... any names? much appreciated.

Can't help with a doctor but can I ask if you have been diagnosed with asthma? Maybe you are experiencing an allergic reaction.

yes dbay, i guess its some kind of an allergic reaction--it started immediately after a trip to beijing so i'm not surprised. thats the reason i wanna see a good respiratory/throat doc, not any GP. xie xie anyway.

OK, I if you have used these before then I would suggest that you consider getting a Ventolin bronchial inhaler and/or some antihistamines and a Beconase nasal spray.

    discobay,

I know you mean well, but don't go dispensing medical advice to people on these forums.

You are not a registered medical practitioner.

    bichisort,

The advice given by combuchakid is better and much more sensible.

Find a registered medical practitoner that you like, and stick with him or her and stop 'doctor shopping'

    All the best.

That's why I said if you have used these before. The original poster wanted urgent advice which was not forthcoming. I was merely stating the obvious to someone who acknowledged the problem as probably being allergy-related. If you think that the OP is going to take my advice as that of a GP or allergy specialist then that's your perogative. You need to remember that a lot of people use these forums to seek advice. How they use that advice, if at all, is up to them. As I said, I was very specific in pointing out that medication used before should be considered again.

As I mentioned in my message, I know you meant well, but some people, when they are told something or read something on the Internet will in fact go out and try what is suggested. I know a lot of people come to these forums to seek advice, and the best advice you could have given 'bichisort' was to go to a hospital or a registered medical practitioner.Even though you actually made a point of saying "if you have used these before" , it is still vitally important that the dosage and use use of the medicine that you suggested be carefully indicated and not simply used in an adhoc way.

Once again, I do understand thet you meant well under the circumstances.

finally finally found a great respi doctor who seems to know his stuff--Dr. adrian wu, sits in princes building. it's working!yes discobay, he pretty much said what you did--allergy etc and precribed ventorlin.

i cant believ so many Hk doctors just blindly recommend antibiotics even when there's no infection. really let down, one of them was supposed to be an ENT specialist and he obviously he doesnt know his nose from his a**.
    hkguy, thanks for your concern--sincerely.
    and discobay, where's your clinic?
