Anyone knows how much is the consultation fee to see a dermatologist..?

After various researches in the net, i decided to opt out for Dr.Simon Ku, a dermatologist in Central ( because i live in Central). I got this very badly itching skin and scalp.
Could anyone inform me about the consultation fees plz? This is my first time seeing a doctor in HKG so am pretty much unaware of this. I could call the clinic and make an enquiry but i do have a lil bit of hearing problems so i thought it'd be better to ask here.

    Thanks.

First consultations at specialists are always charged more than follow-up visits, as some time is spent taking medical history. While I haven't ever visited a dermatologist, I have paid anywhere between $1,200 to $2,500 for that first visit, dropping afterwards to $800 to $1,200 or so.

You really would be best checking with them so you get no surprises. Perhaps ask a friend or family member to help you call them directly. And also remember, many doctors in Hong Kong operate a cash/cheque policy only.

If you're on insurance, some won't accept a specialist claim without a referral from a GP.

    Good luck.

You can try Dr. Yong , 5th floor Mong kok commerical centre, tel : 23963011.
I think dermatological consultation fee is $400-600 only as I accompanied her once before. My aunt had patches of hair loss last year and since then she had made great improvement.
The doc speaks excellent english and she is willing to spend time , unlike one whom I seen in Central who rush through the whole thing as though 10 mins is all that $1000 is worth >.<

This is your first mistake. Doctors (and dentists) charge a hefty premium if they have to pay expensive rents ... take an MTR a few minutes out of Central to Kowloon etc and get just as good a doctor for a much lower cost.

The fee is pubic hospitals and clinics depends on the status of the patient. Does she have an HKID card?

From what I hear, private dermatologists may charge anywhere up to $1,500.

Some private doctors do post their charges on the HKDoctors website. Perhaps you can look there. http://www.hkdoctors.org/english/

Quality healthcare in Admiralty charge an ID card holder HKD300 for a short doctors consultation including 3 days of medication (270 if no medication is required). For a specialist appointment, I have paid between 800 and 2000 depending on the issue (referred by QH).

I don't care about the price because insurance covers it and the one in admiralty is 2 mins from my office. which is why they can charge such high fees!
