If this is a recurring thing, best get it checked by a specialist. Quite a number of my friends have this problem and one of the more serious cases is that by the time my friend had a specialist check her, they found serious inflammation around the nose area.

I like this advise and I have done it.

3 days back I went and see general physician. He diagnosed this as Rhinosis. He gave me N*rofen & F*u-zep Tablet.

It just partially worked. Hence I went to ENT. He has done a costly Endoscopic Rhinoscopy. He diagnosed it as Deviated Nasal Septum & Hypertrophic Turbinates. He asked me to stop other medicine and gave me super costly Aeri*s Tablet and Ava*ys Spray. Of course the medicine doesn't work on 1st day and I have just 3 hours of sleep because of congested nose.

I may be going to see another ENT tomorrow.

econd Neti-Pot Death From Amoeba Prompts Tap-Water Warning

Washing noses with neti pots or squeeze bottles has become increasingly popular as a home remedy for colds, allergies and sinus trouble. But it's not such a great remedy if it kills you.

Now that two people have died from infection with brain-eating amoebas after using neti pots, doctors are warning: do not put tap water up your nose.
Second Neti-Pot Death From Amoeba Prompts Tap-Water Warning : Shots - Health Blog : NPR

Given the bad state of HK building pipes perhaps the distilled water is the only safe way here to do this.

I still am blown away that my building has HK water quality awards but the security and the Property Office all say boil the water. I was just drinking it from the tap but now back to boiling. They say the tank on the building is 15 years old or so. Part of me thinks they are just HK locals who aren't facing the reality that this building shows on the gov't website as fit to drink!

HK water meets UN standards to the buildings apparently and thereafter who knows if the pipes are bad.

But this neti pot warning is one to consider even if there are such few fluke deaths attributed to this.

edit: I just read a lab report on this. This amoeba in the nose is very, very rare and it was just in one locale but still not using HK tap water is good advice.

Municipal water is treated to kill microorganisms, like Naegleria fowleri, but it is not 100 percent effective. Therefore, neti pot manufacturers have always asked users to fill the devices with distilled or sterilized water—not tap water.
“Fortunately, confirmed deaths from N. fowleri are quite rare,” says Diane Miskowski, MPH, Business Development Manager at EMSL Analytical, Inc., a leading environmental testing laboratory. “However, the frequency of infections may be higher due to past testing limitations.

My father and grandfather used to sniff lukewarm saltwater. They boiled the water first and then let it cool down until it was lukewarm. Then sniffed it up their nose through their pipes and it came out of their mouth. Kind of difficult the first few times but you get used to it and it works. be sure to boil the water first and let it cool down until it's luke warm. 1 teaspoon of salt should do the trick.
