Yes it's real. What's with your obsession in buying the cheapest available?

300 to 2500 per gram isnt cheap at all. Take a train to Lowu and spend the day in Dongmen, lots of good teas and tea shops in SZ that will not gouge you like in HK.

You do need to know how to tell a good from an average tea when buying in Shenzhen. In most cases, it will be cheaper but there is often older stock there eg > 1 year old tea. Then again, the same could be said in some stores in HK

With Green tea, its hard to tell you a price for what you should pay if you don't have a type of tea in mind. Personally i tend to drink dragon well (龙井). Prices range from 80 HKD/100gm for large leaf, not the current pick to 1000 HKD/100gm for 1st pick of the season, smaller leave and hand roasted.

I would suggest you try a few at different price points, the point where u cannot tell the difference is the maximum you need to spend. I can tell the difference between a $80 and a $300 tea, but the difference between a $300 and a $500 is neglible and hence i tend to stick with a $300 tea.
