    Orthopedics

Ok I have searched the forums so I already know about Dr. Chang. Can anyone recommend an orthopediatrician (especially for ankle injuries)? Thanks again geoexpaters.

Ok will check him out. Thanks.

Any particular reason why you recommend him though?

If anyone is interested, Dr Julian Chang charges $1200. Too pricey for someone without health insurance!

I used Dr. Dan Hooley in Jardine House. I found him excellent - knew his stuff but wasn't pushing me into anything unnecessary. Not cheap though!

I go to Dr Tang Wai Man at the Hong Kong Sanitorium. He is a really good doctor. Dr Julian Chang is also very good. I suspect Dr Tang would be slightly cheaper than Dr Chang as the former is younger (but has the requisite years of experience and all the necessary qualifications).

Dr. Dan Hooley has a very good reputation, as does Dr. Christopher Tong 2521-1680.

Both have been recommended by a doctor I respect.

When looking for a surgeon do you really want cheap, or ethics and experience?

I used Dr. Christopher Tong when I snapped two ligaments in my ankle.

Very good and would highly recommend him.

Even though I wanted to come back for a follow-up after two sessions, he said it wasn't necessary and best I go back to Physio. Seemed very genuine and wasn't trying to milk me with costly procedures and tests.

Had very bad experience with Dr. Chang and would not recommend him to anyone. He barely even takes the time to thoroughly listen to your problem and doesn't do a proper detailed check on you, only the random ones...Even after the problem didnt improve after half a year, and i went back, he didnt do any other check, and just prescribed a strong other antiinflammatory which didnt change anything at all. He wanted me to call again after 10 days, whether any improvement, which wasn't, and also on the phone didn't really listen abd quickly said i shld try another medication or injection in the shoulder.... I went to another doc ( asiamedical specialists centre) and they did an MRI, since i have the back problem for over a year and the problem comes clearIy from my cervical spine. After checking with others i also realized many ppl had the same opinion about Dr Chang. It is quick money for him though, in and out in 2 to 3 minutes is an easily earned HKD 1200...
