    MRI costs

    Hi

So I may need to get an MRI on a joint. My work covers me for up to HK$2.5k for this.

From what I understand the cost is anything from HK$4k upwards (I called IRad in Admiralty and they quoted me HK$4.8k for plain scan and an extra HK$2k if I wanted contrast).

I know I can get it through the government hospitals, but from what I understand the wait-lists are quite long.

Does the HK$4k mark sound about right?

    Hi

Can I ask, where did you get it done?

Quality healthcare can organise this. My insurance covered mine. Circa 2k I thought but it was a while ago.

I had MRI of my Lumbar Spine at Concord MRI Diagnostic Centre in 73 Austin Road, TST. This was back in 2010 and I m not sure of the exact cost but it wasnt as expensive as 4K, I think it was closer to 3K.

Give them a ring to get a quote.

Price seems about right. I had one for my brain (yes they found it) with contrast. Cost about 3k but that was in the Philippines so 4k for HK seems right.

I had one on my hip in November at the axon scanning centre in ice house street which cost 4800. They said it would have cost about 6000 if I needed contrast which I did not.
