When visiting specialist, the medicine they give seems very expensive.
Can you reject the medicine, just get a prescription?
Is it normal to do that if you could do it?

Yes its much cheaper generally to get meds from outside pharmacies rather than the doctors or private hospital in house pharmacy . Just ask the doctor at the time of the consult to write an outside script . The only potential problem arises is availability of rarer meds at community pharmacy
