    Colonoscopy

    This is not a joke!

Has anyone used the HK Colonoscopy Centre in TST? They promise no pain colonoscopy without general anaesthesia. They use "conscious sedation". Sounds awful but I am willing to give it a go, as the cost is substantially lower.

Any helpful advice will be welcome.

I've had one in the govt hospital, procedure done in less than 15 mins with out general anesthesia, NO PAIN at all, only weird thing is you can feel the camera tube wiggiling around in your belly, bit like the Alien scene, waiting for something to burst out of the stomach

I had one a couple of years ago under sedation and it was totally pain free, just not a very dignified procedure.

The worst aspect was the previous nights bowel cleansing drink, several pints of it, which was pretty unpleasant with "explosive" results for a couple of hours.

It might all sound a bit awful but it's really not that bad, and nothing to worry about. Recovery from sedation only takes about an hour, and the DVD they give you of the procedure is the perfect way of getting rid of dinner party guests overstaying their welcome.

This was funny for me as I had to go through the same process, then when I arrived at the hospital ward, we each got a liter of the stuff to drink, then we had to physically show the nurse that our bowel movements were clean, which I mean after taking a dump, we were told not to flush and ask for the nurse to look inside the toilet bowl, only when she gave the all clear were we sent down to get the procedure done, Luckily no DVDs handed out Never got to see what the insides of bowels looks liked

I had a colonoscopy done at the Matilda hospital on The Peak. I had to clean myself out via drinking two bottles of 'Fleet', which cleaned me out both ends. Then make my way to the hospital, no food or sleep. I was out like a light which was great. I couldn't do another endo/ colo semi conscious again. I awoke with no pain after, just felt surreal as opposed to drowsy. The worst thing was the bill. 26 K plus just to look up my a@$&. Apparently, I had not cleaned everything out, so the Dr ( very old school type , I like that.) gave me the guilt trip big time, and said hell see me in 5 yrs time for another one.

I recently went public for an other health issue recently, and despite all of the waiting, ( with private, things tend to move faster) I have found the system no nonsense, no time wasting, cheaper, but no frills. Yu can request to be "put out like a light" but it will cost you extra. But not much more.
