House visit are very expensive. It would be cheaper to go to Canossa at Old Peak Road. However if you are prepared to pay , I will be happy send you the name of GP who does visit patients at home

Hi, new to the forum and share some personal experience..
I went to the emergency at a private hospital here for sudden abdominal pain last month. I was directed to the gastroenterology
specialty doctor and was diagnosed gastroenteritis. She suggested me to admit in hospital for blood test and do CT abdomen as well.... Finally I got better after the med and all blood test and CT are normal. The final medical fee cost me around HKD 20000
    for only one overnight stay.

Later I learnt from my friend( a private family doctor) that private hospital can charge more for admitting simple case in -- do blood test and imaging and the doctor ward round fee....
I think it wound save my money for going to a family doctor first. He can give the initial screening and treatment with med and injection. Sometimes are just same as the out-patient dept in Hospital. He can refer more complicated case to admit into hospital if necessary.

I don't mind pay more to a doctor who can even come to my home visit for treatment ( housecall doctor or in-house doctor). My friend said not many doctor in hong kong do this service. The home doctor claimed to provide 24 hours coverage and appeared attractive to busy person like me. I really hate the waiting time in the ER here (up to 8-10 hours for non-emergency) especially in this influenza season.
I rather pay for the time saved and extra privacy -- actually the final cost is much less than going to private hospital.

Just for reference, I think The London Medical Clinic (based on Duddel St.) offers a home visit service. I've never used it, so I can't comment on the prices, although some of it might be covered by insurance. (Actually, I don't see this service listed on their website, maybe they stopped.)
