    do the local thing, hire a domestic helper and have the mother in law supervise the helper.

    and put camera in every rooms ;-)

    Seriously tho:
    - Confinement ladies (prices range from 5K to 25k+ depending on level of experience etc etc) - they definitely are a plus.
    - Helper - this is a complicated one. The recruitement process is painful (it is easy to do the paperwork...but the recruitment...oh my!!!)

    The hardest part will be leaving your kid with the helper at the very early stages (ie 2 months, when your wife goes back to work) --- it is obviously easier later when the kid/baby is getting older and you are more familiarzed with the helper.

    If quitting your jobs is not an option I cannot see how (except if you have family willing to step in) you can do without a helper.

    I would NEVER hire a FDH live out. There are regular controls (boarding houses) and you/your helper do not want to be caught in that.

    We know of friends who have and frankly when you have a young baby, the last thing you want is dealing with that kind of shit.

    If you do it, do it legally.

    A thought if that is doable for you (ie your parent swilling to come etc):

    Assuming Delivery date = July 1st
    Helper start working = June 1st (give you a month to get at ease with her and vice versa)
    Birth = July 1st
    You = 2 weeks off
    Wife = 8 weeks off (she has to take 2 weeks before the birht)
    Confinement lady = start July 3rd (when wife come back from hospital)
    July 3rd to August 3rd: Confinement Lady + Helper + Wife at home + you for 2 weeks.
    August 3rd till wife go back to wok: + Helper + Wife at home
    Wife go back to work: your parents come over for a month/few weeks: so at home it is your helper and your parents
    Once you parents leave..baby is already 3+ months and everything is "easier" (by then the helper has been here 4 months, she has learnt from the Confinement lady, your family, you and your wife)..
    gunsnroses and Dankleness like this.

    Maybe look for some stay at home mums that will look after your baby too? Given where you live will be a bit hard though ...
