Has anyone experienced having chemo treatment in HK. How is the quality of using the public system and going in for your weekly chemo.
If you have cancer and relocated to HK, would public healthcare pick up immediately on your treatments.

Public Hospitals provide excellent chemo treatment. However to get in the system, you need a letter from a private doctor. Another way is go the emergency ward if you have an acute problem.
If you've replocated recently, keep in mind that there are some drugs that are not provided by the public system.
You have the option I think of paying for the drugs (as long as they're available in HK) and doing the chemo in the private section of the public hospitals.
The recommended way is usually to go public and also have consults with a private oncologist who tend to be more open and have access to newer drugs. The public system tends to be a few years behind in terms of drugs made available.
