    Shoulder Pain

    Hello

Shortly my story….After one of day lifting at gym i got injured shoulder(lift too heavy weight). Since that day i have my shoulder pain for more than 3 months. Its really bother me and i can't work out anymore.
I went to see doctor and he give me some pills and told me give rest for my shoulder but its actually not really helping to me. I back again to him and he gave me letter for consultation with specialist and i guess to find out what pain exactly i need do MRI Scan.. I have to wait now for 1months to see doctor and he can give me referral for MRI scan.

Any one know waiting time it really long for MRI as well ?

Also i heard from doctor they can referral to private hospital for MRI but does its cost expansive ? I do some research price around 4000 in internet. Not really cheap.

Any one can suggest me idea what best solution for treat my pain shoulder. Thanks

There are a huge number of causes of shoulder pain but you should not needed an MRI to diagnose - an xray and an ultrasound are generally enough. Ultrasound much cheaper than MRI. Search for the thread on hydro dilation as I linked a specilaist there not long ago. He does ultrasounds. Not cheap to see him though.

MRI for you back will probably cost more than 5K nowadays.

Should add. He has treated me many many times for relatively serious running injuries. His technics are not for everyone but top HK athletes go to visit him very regularly. Worth a shot

I went to see a physiotherapist for back and shoulder pain. He fixed the issue in three visits and it cost about $500 each time. Maybe you could look into that too.

As someone who has a Frozen Shoulder, I would seriously get a proper diagnosis first. Something like needling is great for some injuries and won't do a thing for others; if you have a frozen shoulder, then physiotherapy at an early stage will make it worse but for other kinds of injuries is just the thing. What you need is a decent diagnosis.

Can you move your shoulder? i.e. do you have any limitations in the range of motion? Or is it just pain? If you have trouble lifting your arm, for example, but someone else can lift it for you, that's most likely something like a rotator cuff tear. If you can't lift your arm in any direction and nobody else can, that's typical of adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder) which is what I have. But it's rare in younger folks, tendon tear is much more likely.

And there are all sorts of other things - like stress resulting in very tight muscles that physio or massage would cure etc etc.

PS - met a lady last week with a tendon tear. She finally went private to get an MRI and was charged 10k. So unless you have great insurance, you might want to try other diagnostic tools first. A decent shoulder specialist should get close with just a physical examination and an x-ray.....

This was the guy who I mentioned in the other thread. He was recommended to me as a shoulder specialist but in the end I got treated in Australia so didn't go and can't comment on him.

    Thanks for answears.

Doctor diagnose me pain on my rotator cuff area.I can move my shoulder in any direction but i do have kind of dull pain constantly. Once i lift something heavy my pain will be increased.

I guess best solution its take look inside of my shoulder to see what's give me this pain.

so i can try go private for ultrasound to diagnose my pain ? since MRT very expansive here

Since it is already 3 months post injury you need an mri for a definitive diagnosis especially it may be amenable to surgical repair . Ultrasound won't give you that .
You can go to government general outpatient and ask the doctor to give you a referral to private lab for mri . With government doctor referral it's cheaper by 15%and the scan is uploaded automatically to your government record . If there is a tear etc you can be fast tracked to government orthopaedic for the opinion definitive treatment etc .all in all probably most cost effective option
