    Mole removal

I went to Tsing Yi Quality Health to get a referral and the doctor basically laughed me out the room before giving me a letter to see a specialist. Apparently he thought my mole was too small to warrant concern but it's my body and I will do as a I please.

Can anyone give me a recommendation for facial mole removal? I hear people go to Thailand for cosmetic things now but I'd rather just do it here in HK. I want to get one removed as an 8 month laser attempt at a beauty salon was ineffective.

    Thanks!

I've been using the public health system (specialist skin clinics) for the last couple of years. It's a thorough, if somewhat slow process, but if my skin spot is deemed to perhaps be cancerous the specialist will either cut the whole thing out, or first do a small biopsy to have it checked for skin cancer. The visit only costs me HK $65(if you have HK Id), and they'll have me back regularly to check for any other spots that might be developing.
I've had 2 cut out in the time I've been attending, so know how it works, and for me, it's a great service for the cost involved.
I'm not about to fly to Thailand when I can catch a bus to Yau Ma Tei.
Obviously it's not classified as cosmetic surgery...I'm worried about skin cancer on fair Caucasian skin and years of over exposure on Sydney beaches.
If your need is for appearances, then my skin clinic mightn't be for your needs. Hong Kong is full of cosmetic surgeons who charge through the roof for a good job. I know. I've paid the bill for my wife to have work done, and can recommend the guy she used if you want contact details. His English is very good, and the work he's done in several rounds of cutting up my wife's face has satisfied her.
I also have details of a Guangzhou specialist, which only involves the train trip for an hour, he's cheaper than hk, but still pricey, and comes recommended.
No idea about Thai clinics, and I've read that. a popular choice these days is South Korea .
Anyway, good luck, and pm me if you'd like any more information.

Cannot personally vouch for the efficacy of this method - but Google it and there seem to be many posts and videos about it. Worth investigating?

Seems to be quite dangerous to use apple cider, and what if it is cancerous?

I've tried it once and it worked quite well. Although it might depend on where it is. If the mole is on your face, I'm not sure I would try it. It probably would still work ok, but you'd have to wear a bandaid on your face during that time, which would look kind of weird.

"Seems to be quite dangerous to use apple cider, and what if it is cancerous?"

Of course if you are worried about it being cancerous then you should get it checked, regardless if you are removing it or not.

And if you have the money to burn, a dermatologist could be better. But there are no guarantees. I had a few removed by a dermatologist that left me with huge scars. The one I removed with apple cider had no scarring whatsoever.

I can see why doctors would not advise you to do these things at home (after all, they need to be extra safe), but it seems a bit strange that they say it won't work when thousands of people have used that method.

    Whats next? Leeches?

You should really not give dodgy medical advice like this!

Don't mess with a mole that looks funny! If it has more than 2 colors, go see a doctor. If it is changing shape, go see a doctor.

When it comes to mole removal, don't get fooled by medical procedures.

I used to know people who paid 20HKD to have each one removed. They literally did it on the street. The guy had 3 equipment. 2 chairs, some liquid anesthetics, and a toothpick. 12 moles on the face x 20HKD each = $240. All 12 moles were gone by the 20th day. I don't know where they are though. It was long ago and I never recalled the location. I think you should ask some random locals where it can get done. The price varies depending on the size of the mole.

I also know western doctor over complicate this procedure and isn't even effective. They use this very hot burner and literally burns your mole off that way. You would sometimes get left with area of the mole spread out the region but with it mostly discolored.
