Question Can anyone recommend a good affordable Dentist?

    Hi all,

Don't have dental insurance and would just like to get a routine cleaning done. Can anyone recommend a good, affordable, English speaking Dentist? Location not too important as long as it's near an MTR station.

    Thanks

Root canal is NOT routine. Many dentists won't do them but refer you to an orthodontist. If cost is your concern and you have a root canal issue then I recommend flying to Bangkok. But plenty of normal dentists in HK for fillings.

Caritas church on Caine Road has a dental clinic. Very nice staff, not the cheapest, can't remember but I think $500 including x-rays and cleaning. Plus if your teeth have stuff on them within one year, you can go back for a touch up cleaning for free.

I saw a very nice nurse from Taiwan with excellent English but I heard she left. They have quite a few dentist to choose from.

Easy to make appointments. I always go on standby and there is always a cancellation to get me in within a week or two.

tbh, that's reasonable for cleaning in mid levels, some are even worse, may even be double, even most places in New Territories charge around HK$400

there is a good dentist in sheung shui who charges HK$300, but they have a waiting list around 2.5 months

Dr Patrick Yau - just above the MTR station at North Point (3A, G/F Roca Centre, 466-468 Kings Road). Very reasonable and very good dentist. I have moved away from NP but still use him as my dentist. Cleaning = $400, cleaning plus filling = $800.

Smith and Jain in Central is probably one of the cheaper expat dental places

They also have hygienists - better to get a hygienist to clean your teeth - was told this by a dentist (not from Smith and Jain) - apparently they're better at it
