All of the TCM doctors at Nethersole speak English. I go there all the time....very good prices, as well!
Try the cupping!!!!
HK_Katherine I wonder what kind of doctor you had in mind for a 'real TCM doctor'.
Victoria P Most TCMs working in public hospitals are accredited to practice having passed courses run by HKU SPACE, Chinese U, Baptist, their origins is very diverse - from hands on apprenticeship in Chinese medicine shops to China-trained, to clerks, secretaries and primary school teachers.
Troy Sing (and the others doctors) speak excellent English at this practice in Central. Its not the cheapest but It has been very useful for me. https://www.chinesemed.hk/
I would recommend Dr. Cecilia The
Her office is at: Vitality Center Ltd., Suite 801 Commercial House, 35 Queen's Road, Central
Office Tel: 2537 1118
Hope that helps!
jimbo TCMs real doctors? LOL the Hong Kong Medical Council will have you hung drawn and quartered for lumping them with TCMs or the other way round.
No they are NOT trained doctors like those trained for western medicine, but accredited after undergoing courses (in English) and some lab work (in Cantonese) at three of the Hong Kong Universities. I am not sure how much clinical practice is required though, unless they are working in a Chinese Medicine shop.
I don't endorse TCM, but this doctor has given great comfort to people I know, including a friend who had suffered a stroke. I went a couple of times and he really listens (speaks good English as well as guoyu) and he mixes in accupressure which was just as effective as anything else I've tried for carpal tunnel. He's like a psychologist and PT as well as a TCM doctor. Dr Peng spends a really fair amount of time (15 mins?) on each patient and is sort of a celebrity as I understand it in the world of TCM.
I think he charges HKD350, which includes the medicine.
Dr Peng Junsheng
Positive Chinese Medicine Clinic
Rom 1402, Mongkok Commercial Building
16 Argyle Street
Mongkok, Kowloon
(MTR Exit C4 – Mongkok station)

Edit: I wanted to add that Dr Peng listened with tremendous patience (in spite of having a full waiting room) as a family member who is now burdened with dementia recounted his old days in the Army. I think Dr Peng is a stand-up guy and, if you go in for TCM, deserves a look.

Troy Sing and Cecilia The have expensive fees and prob. cater for expats and those with expat insurance.
Unfortunately, I haven't heard good things from a few who have seen Troy Sing.
I have tried TWGH and would recommend them too.
Just ask for an English speaking doc during the appt.
I like that they have the powdered stuff that you just have to mix with hot water, rather than the stuff you have to boil for hours and stink out the whole home (and neighbours')!
