Where to find US Citizen doctor in Hong Kong?

    Hi All!

I need help in finding a US Citizen/American GP or Orthopedic doctor in Hong Kong.

Yes, I know it's unusual, but because the company I am working for is U.S. based and for some insurance reasons, I need to find one. Hopefully, this is a one time deal, but I am wondering if there is a list or community group or something.

I know prior to 97 it was fairly easy to get licensed here and I have met some American's working as physicians here in the past. Just can't find one now.

    Any Ideas? Thanks in advance!!!

The US consulate used to maintain a list but it seems its gone

It used to be here :

I'm too busy to try to get the cached versions - but just google for "us consulate hong kong doctors" and you should find a few hits and maybe you can follow from there.

Also worth looking at the various island based expat practices and checking out where the westerners have their degrees from.

Chances are white person, primary medical degree from a US uni = american citizen.

I cannot remember the last time I visited a doc with an American accent, in this town.

Practices include southern clinic, OT&P, Sue Jaimeson, central health care. Might be worth trolling through the doctor's lists on the medical council site.

You are going to have to do a lot of research, going through all the international medical practices looking for one with US qualifications. I've never come across one, they mostly seem to be British or Australian, but I guess there must be some out there.

I know 2 doctors on that list personally and they are both US citizens and US trained. I'm assuming the list is populated mostly by US citizens too but I dont know this for sure.

Anyway, a list from US consulate is better than random calling

Not really, British commonwealth doctors were accepted without exams before 97, US western medicine doctors have to sit for exams both before and after 97.
