    Orthodontist to get retainers fixed?

    Hi all,

Would like to seek your recommendations for a good orthodontist to get my retainers fixed - the metal wire has broken. Otherwise I'm also open to getting a new one done. Preferably on Hong Kong Island - English speaking is not necessary as I'm a native Cantonese speaker.

On a side note - would also appreciate a recommendation for a general dentist that actually does a proper teeth cleaning. My current dentist is absolutely horrible - he only uses an electric scraper to clean plaque between the teeth, and I'm out the door within 15 minutes or less. My cleanings back home in Canada were at least an hour long and my teeth actually felt clean afterward

    Thank you very much.

I have been seeing her for 11 years, no complaints. (I know Canadians can be a little slow, but not sure anyone takes an hour for cleaning teeth :-))

I was told to get my teeth cleaned by a Dental hygienist. Dentists don't have time nor the patience to do cleanings.

@Cwbguy Thank you, might give her a try next time - yes we are slow, but teeth are important. Surely being whisked out of the dental office in 15 minutes cannot be right.

Not in Central, but just 2 MTR stops away in TST, and will probably save you $$.

I had Invisalign done at Conrad Dental and got the transparent Vivera retainers from them. Very reasonable pricing

Thanks for your help - so I've called a couple places and have gotten these quotes so far:

    $3000 x 2 (upper and lower) + 800 (consultation) = 6800 (specialist)
    $1800 x 2 (upper and lower) = 3,600
$2000 (upper) + $2000 (lower) = $4000 (this was the conrad dental clinic)

How are these prices? Sound about right?

At Conrad Dental, the price for Vivera retainers was for 3 pairs when I got mine. So even if you damage/lose one, you still have backups
