I've currently been putting off going to a psychiatrist after being referred as don't want to deal with the BS. I've had depression and anxiety on and off for about 10 years and now we'll know when I need medication and when I can take myself off it. I've been managing this just fine without a psychiatrist all of this time but having been off the medication for 3 years, some red flags have told me recently I need treatment.
I will be leaving HK again in the Summer and do not feel that going to see a psychiatrist every couple of weeks will make any difference, so really would just like to be given a subscription to cover me for the next few months. Is this a possibility or are all the psychiatrists justs out to make a buck and fob me off with a 2 week subscription (despite the fact that the drugs take 4-6 weeks to have any impact)?
Also, if I am given a prescription, can I just take this elsewhere and avoid the likely astronomical mark-up?
My medical insurance covers the psychiatrist but I have to contribute towards subscription costs so would like to keep this down.
Can anyone recommend a psychiatrist who is likely to give me a long-term prescription without the long con?
