    Sorry to hear about your condition. But how do you even get admitted to public hospital to have surgery? I heard the waiting time ar public hospital could take years (not sure if it’s an exaggeration).

    Probably an exaggeration. Just go to A&E and wait a few hours.

    If you have an accident, you get operated on straight away. If you go to a public hospital which has not a great or helpful orthopedics department, e.g. Prince of Wales, they fob you off by putting you right at the back of their waiting list based on priorities and give you a surgery date 4 years away. When you get a referral to an orthopedic specialist hospital like Queen Mary, you get on their books after about 9 weeks and you get surgery when you need it (and when there is a slot), although it might get postponed when an emergency procedure takes precedence. I speak from experience.

    QMH has always been better funded than all the other hospitals. I guess the rich and influential live nearby (when they don't want to pay for Gleneagles).
