I hate hearing about your discomfort but happy to hear you are still kicking.

To add to your discomfort, who or what is Alex Eala?

Ah right. A 19 year old Filipina tennis player whose progress I have been following for a,couple of years. Slowly moved up from ranking 1000 in the world at 17 to 140th a couple of weeks ago.

Then got a wildcard for the prestigious Miami Open.

Beat the world number 73 in round one
Beat world number 25 in round 2
Beat world number 5 (Madison Keys, Australian Grand Slam winner in January)
Beat world number 2 (Swiatek, 5 times Grand Slam winner) in the quarter final
Lost very very closely to world number 4 in the semi.

She has risen to 75th in the world and earned more in the week than the whole of last year .

    Still a teenager. Lovely person.

I think there is a boy of similar age. Friends with Alex Eala.

Anyone at anytime. Hearts, can't live without one (even if an artificial one.)

    The Guardian report

When she lost it was very moving with the crowd cheering and her beaming with arms raised (the photo in the article). I have to admit my eyes watered.

Enough to get lucrative product endorsements, which pay more than tennis, anyway.

Sorry, cynical me on the world of professional sports...
