    Angry Fractured collar bone!?

Fractured my clavicle, am waiting on doctor at union hospital, if I need surgery (looks likely from image) and insurance does not cover enough what public hospital should I approach? Any idea on wait time for surgery for this type of fracture?

Ouch. Can't offer any advice on the hospital and insurance situation but want to wish you well.

    Queen Mary

Depends on how bad the fracture is, you could be operated on in the next week

Not all clavicle fractures need surgery. If you are admitted to a HA hospital needing surgery, it will be done 'in good time' before the bone has a chance to heal in the wrong position. It might not be immediate, and you will need to wait in a queue with other emergencies but it will be done 'in time'.

So just get the doctors referral here and go to orthopaedics at public to register?

Or do I need to go to the emergency room again? As maybe they will want their own xrays? Would one option be faster in terms of scheduling surgery?

Union took way too long to discharge me so I'll go first thing in the morning. TIA

You'll likely need to go through AED again as there is no formal mechanism for private patients to go directly to public care. Ortho often have fracture clinics, that might be quick. Your Union doctor can write a proper referral letter to expedite the process. Having said that, the QMH/HKU bunch are very 'incestuous' and have a 'network', so YMMV. [edit: wait, so you're in Union in Tai Wai?] Your X rays should be viewable if you sign up for whatever that app is called, but I wouldn't be surprised if they ask for more imaging.
