ammed cancer center in hong kong?

so- if i were back home, i'd go to memorial sloan kettering- both my praents were treated there with good results (for cancer)...i looked up over here and they said ammed (adventist) hospital is affiliated with them.

other than there, would anyone here have any recommendations for oncologists? the oncologist at the private hospital we're at currently recommends chemo since the stage 4 stomach is operable but not recommended...

You could get a referral to the government clinic. I'll find out the process in a day or two from someone who has been through the process of going from private to govt - not sure what the waiting list would be.

Hi - Have you any leads to the above yet?

I know nothing about the Adventist Hospital in HK, but do know of a couple of oncologists - public service & private clinic (NT East). I would hesitate to mention them here coz they're not specialists in stomach cancer, and mainly consult for and advocate radiotherapy, with chemo as secondary treatment - so not entirely relevant to your mentioned case.

If still interested, buzz me and I'll PM you back later with the little I know. Seasonal best wishes.

As a HK Resident (HKID card holder) using the public system then a few hundred HK$.

As a non-HK resident, then it depends what treatments you have and how long it takes you to die. The sky's the limit.

Irrespective of your financial abilities .. I think its best to get into the govt system asap, as it can take some time and you never know when you might need the HA to step in.

You should take all your scans reports etc and go asap to one of the major private hospitals and make an outpatient appointment in the oncology department (presuming you have seen the surgeon already). No referral needed for this and you will be seen very quickly .Usually treatement is multidisciplinary so the initial doctor you see can just be whoever is on the hospital panel.

You would also be advised to take all info along to a GP who will write a referral for the relevant Govt hospital department as you will in all liklehood also be using this system at some point as well.

    Good luck
