For" hello there" i wonder are the US paediatricians you mention are now recommending vaccination for children in the US in light of the following news :I am sure they are not for the reasons i have already given at length .So why would you vaccinate a child for this coming to HK and then a booster every 2 years?

    Peanut Butter Recall Spreading

The FDA is recommending that people avoid eating all commercially prepared food
containing peanut butter because of uncertainty about which products are
    tainted with salmonella typhimurium.

Over the weekend, several more products were recalled, including Kroger peanut
butter ice cream, Meijer Brand peanut butter crackers, and Wal-Mart Bakery
brand peanut butter cookies. Also, Kellogg Company said the FDA had found
salmonella in one package of its peanut butter crackers.

As of Friday, the CDC said the outbreak has infected 474 people in 43 states.

We do not plan on traveling to SE Asia or within China, at least for the first year or so, so the Typhoid shot seemed excessive to me. I would rather wait until she needs it, and is a bit older. Hep A and B is a must, I think. Thanks everyone for your input!

I don't understand your silly PB reference.

As for the typhoid vaccine, all I said was consider it IF YOU WILL BE TRAVELLING IN SE ASIA where the disease is more common. All those I know whose children have been vaccinated for it travel extensively with their youngsters, which I am sure played into their docs assessment before when s/he recommended the shot.

ok well i will dumb -down this as much as i can for the benefit of hellobear and pandathearest

    deep breath

the bacteria infecting the peanut butter in the US and the salad vegetables before that is the same one as that causing typhoid

so in fact you have a better chance of getting Salmonellosis in the US right now than hong kong & i am sure the paeds are not recommending wholesale typhoid vaccination in the US

i was trying to give all the information needed so you could logically arrive at the right answer for this case -that typhoid vaccination not needed for this beasmama's toddler

it seems neither you are really not up to arriving at any sort of logical reasoning even you get spoon fed the information

you just call people silly and freaks when they are giving advice despite you knowing absolutely nothing about the subject

In any case beasmama arrived at exactly the right answer herself after revieiwing the information at hand

btw hellothere and pandadearest you both seem kind of tense and angry people -be careful of that -look how Nancy Kissel wound up
