    Student Health insurance

I will be moving to HK for about 1-2 years to study. My school does not offer any health insurance and I know as a resident I am entitled to use the local system. However i am looking in addition for a private health insurance system which will cover basic doc + any type of emeregnecy situation that will arise. Currently I have only found GUBA. anyone have any experience with them or can recommend something for me?

    Thanks

In any serious emergency you are in the public health system anyway. And basic GP visits are a couple of hundred HK dollars a time. In general you will pay more for insurance cover than you will get out of it (this must be true otherwise insurance companies would go bankrupt), and since all you are really trying to cover is GP visits (and perhaps get a few hundred dollars a day if you are stuck in hospital) I really don't see the point of this. Your expected spend on medical facilities in a couple of years assuming you are in good health is close to zero and is very unlikely to be more than a couple of thousand HK dollars.

But if you insist on burning your money, Kwiksure is the Geoexpat preferred Insurance Broker I believe.
