$180 + Meds is not bad for a Private Hospital. My local GP charges $180 (Includes Med).

I've tried searching on my Aetna member website for you - but it's just crashing and crashing so I cannot get any useful information out (so I wouldn't choose them for private health insurance!). Sorry. If it starts working again I'll post the info.

But what happens after the 2/3 days of meds are gone. Another trip to the Canossa or Central Hospital (same price Mon-Sat)?

I would've thought a GP would be qualified enough to change a warfarin dosage based on INR!

feedback for any of you that might be interested...

The pathology lab refuses point blank to do any blood tests without a doctor's referral

I got onto the government clinic system, and spent 2 weeks or so phoning the automated system at 4 separate clinics to get an appointment - "sorry there are no available times in the next 24 hours, please try again later"

So, in utter frustration, I went to a private doctor (actually, he was the family doctor my wife went to when she was growing up here in HK), and he referred me to the QM Cardio clinic - and gave me a path lab referral letter. I went to the lab, and they did the test. Doc gave me the results, which were normal, and I have remained on the same dosage since...

Of course, we tried a friend of my wife who knows people...to try to get an earlier QM cardio unit appointment! Well, all I can say is that I am waiting 'till May next year!

I have heard that in critical cases, the hospitals are very good, but for general care, the waiting list is very, very long! imagine if I merely had chest pains & wanted things checked for my own interest!

Thanks again to everyone who helped.

    David

Someone we know was told to wait six months+ for an angio-plasty ... go figure.

    Hi David,
If money really matters you most, then you can go to public hospitals like Queen Mary,Prince of Wales and etc.You only need to show your Hk ID and pay a 100 dollars including and that includes medicines and everything.
