I am planning to start up an online store and would like to know

Roughly what hardware is required? Is it just a decent quality server?

Do you have to physically keep the server in a data centre or can you use your own office

What's your target market? It seems like to me no matter what connection I'm on (whether it be HGC or PCCW or HKBN) my overseas ul/dl rate is simply not quite there... So if your target market is not Asia, I would host it somewhere closer (geographically) to your target market.

Then I will probably find a reputable hosting company with strong backbone in .tw, .hk, or .sg.
