IceAIM, in this forum http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=767932 seems that the gamers definitely prefer to use Plasma over LCD. And these people have tested their Plasmas for hours and burn-in is not an issue. I've also googled and read up on this LCD vs Plasma debate and will probably be getting a Pioneer PDP-4370HD as it seems to beat the competition hands down.

    Advantages of Plasma:
    http://www.advanced-pdp.jp/english/index.html
    - More depth
    - Gentler on the eye, not as glaring/bright as LCD
    - Blacker blacks
    - Wider viewing angle

    Advantages of LCD
    - lower electric consumption (about 150W vs 300W)
    - longer life
    - cheaper (if you get the chinese brands)
    - many brands and designs to choose from

Hence, I would probably skip the LCD, unless someone can provide some further insight.

There are only three plasma television producers in Japan (Matsushita Electric Industrial, Fujitsu Hitachi Plasma Display, and Pioneer) and two producers in South Korea (Samsung and LG). Other television makers purchase panels from these five firms to manufacture and sell their own plasma televisions.

Maybe it's better just to drop in every now and then and ask what the discounts are.

I bought a Benq 42'' for about $10,000 just after Christmas at Fortress. Probably it was last year's model, since they had 10 or so in stock. I am happy with it, and 42'' is cool even though when the DVD is bad quality it shows...
