another thing you could also do is use virtualization software (i.e. VMWare) to run linux and run it at the same time as your primary o.s.
Although VMWare Workstation isn't free. There is an open source alternative in the works called VirtualBox ( http://virtualbox.org/ ). I just tried it the other day and it works pretty well.

Try the wubi unofficial installer for Windows, otherwise download and burn the install CD which also doubles as a live CD, or you can setup on a USB key: pendrivelinux.com

Anyone having problems receiving geoexpat email notifications?
That Wubi is still downloading and seems to have stalled at 4% complete. Ubuntu is at 58%. Have we had another earthquake or what?
