Hi
Five weeks and six days til we move to HK... This question might seem silly, but in HK, can you get cable internet and tv everywhere? Can you get it in any building? Our appartment is in Stanley, on the bay.
Thanks!

Simply put yes you can get cable and internet in apartment buildings however village houses which are remote do not always have easy access.
As you will be staying in Stanley - most likely your building has Now Broadband through PCCW or if you are really lucky you may have a choice of other service providers such as, NWT and I-cable.
Thanks Alby. We're trying to do as much research as we can before we get there. Here in Brisbane many people in outlying suburbs can't access cable, only ADSL, so I wasn't sure. Thanks again.

Looking forward to seeing you at a GeoExpat event/gathering once you arrive in HK.
Happy planning and safe travels til then.
Thanks Alby
We'll certainly come to some geoexpat events. We are very excited!
FWIW most of the channels that are of interest to expats are on Now Broadband TV, which runs over DSL and will certainly be available to you in Stanley. The traditional Cable TV service is focussed pretty much entirely on the local population - it has very few channels of interest to expats that aren't carried on Now, and effectively no English-speaking customer support.
Best is you call the provider and tell them your building name to see what service they have available. NOW TV is the main TV provider with the best channels. I-cable has the leftovers.
Want to live in a village house in Tai Po Fanling area. Anyone know what internet and cable facilities will be available?
