    temp2.exe error and windows xp

my avast virus software is detecting a temp2.exe error when i start xp (home edition) or if i access my c drive or files from the flash drive.

it asks to move the suspect file to the chest, so no problem after starting xp... the problem is now accessing the drives ... because it does not allow me to access the drives .... with an error message saying somethng wrong with copy.exe

the runaround to it is to pause avast and then open the drives.

    its driving me nuts....

anyone know how to solve this........pleaaaaaaaaase!
