    OLED Screens

I saw this thread on Engadget.com and thought I might share it here:

    Sony's OLED TVs: http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/12/s...-sale-in-2007/

These screens are only 5 MM (not a mistype) thick and have upwards of 1,000,000:1 (again - not a mistype) contrast ratio with 100% colour reproduction.

No idea on what they might go for once they are formally released, but gotta admit they have come up with a sweet little machine

    cheers,
    Vicky D

I had read many articles about this new technology, finally its about to arrive...

Trust good ol Sony to be the first kid off the block, I so want one of these OLED screens as soon as they get screen sizes above 40 inches diagonal.

The image quality on OLED will blow the very best CRT's away, ie Barco professional and Sony Broadcast grade, infact it will be the best image emitting screen that man kind has ever developed...

A totally WOW leap forward !

Way to misquote, its only marginally better than NTSC colour which isn't saying too much. Current HDTV standards specify a Deep Colour gamut up to twice as more depth than regular monitors.

I just typed what I saw in the article to be honest, I can't tell with my eyes the difference between true-black or 'nearly' black

But I thought the screens were a huge leap forward if the contrast ratios are really that much higher and to top it off... only 5 mm thick!
