Those Gbps ones are not in production, its just lab speed right now.
Belkin has good average speed, and great firmware even though they don't actually manufacture the routers them self like D-link, Linksys etc does they still are very reliable, Netgear as well especially their dual antenna ones.
Im not sure what brand currently has the highest average transfer rate, but i guess a Google search would find that out pretty quick.
oh and besides the router, Push transfer is for some reason usually faster in XP than Pull. Meaning that you push the file from the computer you are using, to the one you want it moved to, as opposed to sitting on the one you want it to and pulling it there.
Anyone got a recommendation for a firmware upgrade for the Linksys WRT54G?
Great info on this thread. I don't think I really wanna bost the dB on my Linksys router, considering I sleep right next to it...
Not a big problem, just make a tinfoil hat as well to protect you in your sleep :P
Sveasoft alchemist firmware is rock solid.
DD WRT #22 as well, but wireless will be slower since its built on Fware 22 not the later Fware 23.
Talisman Firmware is also supposedly very good, but will only work with Rev2+ routers.
Actually after reading up now, i see that the DD WRT might brick your router when flashing it.
So you might not be able to boot it after flashing, and its a pretty big hassle to un-brick it. So try the HYPER WRT instead.
Cheers
