The 'HK Taxi Fare App' is quite useful. I take the distance of my journey from google maps and it gives you the price - adjustable for the different colour taxis (doesn't do bridges or waiting)

The taxi app is really useful, thanks for the post.
Thanks for the app suggestions everyone. I don't know why I didn't look for these useful apps but instead downloaded angry birds.

Rio is work in progress(I don't like it so much!)
Have found the PC versions more difficult!
A good one while on bus/ferry etc is Fruit Ninja or the new Fruitninjapuss (as forementioned!).
This will probably get 'snip snipped' but this kind of thread is my favourite. The OP has found some stuff that he knows will be genuinely useful to a lot of 'us' and has shared it - good show.
Thanks for the apps. I have just installed a couple of these.
Why nobody has mentioned the best app of all..... Geoexpat Mobile!! Actually Im waiting patiently for a LIKES feature like everyone else
If you have stocks, HONG KONG STOCKS LIVE aint bad for managing your portfolio.
HK Flight Info is good for looking up arrivals and departures at HKIA, and also has a function to listen live to the control tower radio if you are bored.
For Taxi, Go-Taxi allows you to call a book a taxi without making a phone call in many countries including HK. Useful if you are out in NT or somewhere where taxi's are not frequent. Supposedly after using it you will get an SMS confirmation back from the driver. I have not actually used this app myself yet, but looks interesting and would be interested to know if anyone here has used this in HK.
If you have NowTV, the nowTV app allows you to turn the box on/off, change channel, increase/decrease volume using your phone. Its a really cool technology and you can swipe your finger left/right on the phone to change channel and up/down to change volume. Its also good to play tricks on the wife because I can turn the TV on/off when I am in the office and she is at home watching it
HKPost app allows you to do mail tracking.
Towngas app allows you to report your gas meter readings, open accounts, pay bills, book appointments.
HKFerry is great for looking up ferry schedules.
StudioKUMA call filter is great for filtering junk calls. Every time I get a junk call, it flashes on the screen that its a junk call and tells me who it is and the type of call (eg Call center, financing, telecom, investment, etc).
CXMobile for checking into Cathay flights and I think they have a new paperless boarding pass now (I havent tried it yet).
Thats the main HK specific apps that I use.
I can't find studiokuma in the app store - is it country specific to one app store?
Sorry I should mention I have Android, not iphone. Here it is in the android market:
https://market.android.com/details?i...FsbGZpbHRlciJd
It uses the HKJunkCall database and I believe there is a similar app for iphone that uses the same database.
