Would a square Ipad make sense

Which ever side you had at the bottom it would work - apart from that why would there be a square Ipad?

I am sure if it does happen then the software to make programs fit the strange screen will have a cool name like Felix.

It would work nicely for Instagram, but I'm not sure if most people would want to watch TV shows/movies on a square device as it would show black bars and would feel "squished".

I think an iPad made from blu tak that you could ply into any shape you like would be better. I would call it the iblu tak.
