Problems connecting DLINK wireless router to PCCW Netvigator

We got our internet connection today. PC connects fine. however, we want to set up our wireless router. This is the SAME router we used in our last place, connecting with the SAME pc's .... so we know it works.
However, the damn thing WILL NOT connect to Netvigator.
Have browsed these threads and tried all the things suggested - reset it, made MAC address same on pc and router etc etc. At the moment we have the PCCW supplied modem attached to the wall. The wireless router is attached to the modem. We can all connect fine to the router but the router is not connecting to the internet - it's status is always "disconnected" even if we press the "connect" button.

Any ideas anyone? Been at it about 3 hours now and are going nuts.
