    Need a new desktop

I have been quoted nearly 2000 from Dell to fix my desktop which is 3years old anyway so am going to buy a new one but am not sure what has happened in the last 3 years.....how much memory speed etc......my old one was fast - or so i thought
i mostly use for word/excel docs and dreamweaver and photoshop.
I don't need monitors, printers et as they are fairly new. any advice anyone can give would be great or any reccomendations of someone in Wanchai Computer Centre.....??
Also i had to buy windows when i retored my old dell as in the UK you don't get the programme disc - will i be able to use this on my new compute or do i ahve to buy again ???

Take a look at the ASUS t3 barebone systems, compact and powerfull at a decent price.
A complete system for some photoshop work and some DW should set you back about 3500 depending on CPU ram etc.
Get 1gb ram atleast and a dual core AMD or intel.
If you have the registration key for windows all you need to do is to borrow the installation disk from someone. or you can buy a secondhand one in 298 wanchai for 350HKD.

All "official" repair shops - regardless of what brand - charge like a wounded Bull - it'll co$t you "an arm and a leg" - and then some to go to {say} Dell once the item(s) is/are out of warrantee.

A local repair-shop will co$t you much less if the defective item(s) is/are compatable with "normal" plug in components available in the market-place !

Anyway, I've pressured DELL to provide recovery disks before - but it took some time to acquire.

IBM either provided them with their Laptops, or they were requestable as a free loan for recovering original setup. I suppose the same was true for Desktops too.

Unless you are really ca$h-rich, I'd sugge$t you examine the local repair-shop route.

Try this guy recommended here. Might be able to fix it.

You might need a new copy of Windows XP / Vista (avoid) if you get a new comp.
