Depends on what games you prefer playing.

PSP is more for your driving games/Beat em ups/Shoot em ups etc

DS is more for your puzzle games and RPG games Like Zelda and so forth.

The PSP for watching movies then.

Hmmm does HMV sell Ipod touches or PMP's at all? get one of those instead.

I think they might, but in reality i have no use for one of them.

    i might instead get a ps3.

heh, not what i wrote in the brackets, no donations! and by donations, that includes buying people drinks.

ok, so been looking into this ps3 thing. what's the difference between the new 40gb one and the 80gb one?

it seems the 40gb one is missing lots of stuff, like ps2 game compatibility (big issue?) and flash card reader, etc. major issues or not?

here's a handy flowchart that can be applied to the handhelds as well. It also worth it to note that the PS3 is the only "future proof" Blue-ray player currently available; because like sony says "its not a game console".
