IT Voter registration - advert on facebook

Why are these things so naff that you don't want to actually bother?!?

I just saw an and on Face book for "IT Voter Registration-Please register as an IT voter before 16th of May." Pretty sensible.

When you click the ad it takes you Sin Chung Kai's web site. There is some Youtube video which I'm not going to watch. There is no where to check if I qualify, there is no where to register. Just some form where the submit button where you give away all your details for them to tell you if you qualify. I'm sure I am on some mailing list now.

Should I be voting for Sin Chung Kai?!!?!

This kind of thing breeds indifference to voting.

I'm afraid you've been duped. Sin Chung Kai (some legislative councillor) tricked you into visiting his personal website. As if the HK goverment would advertise on Facebook? Click this link for voter registration:

    According to his his, :::: ?????????W?????? | ??k?|???(???T?????\????O) ::::
I don't qualify to vote for the IT constituency, I have go affiliate myself with one of those 'Professional' associations where everyone pats each other on the back and says how great they are. Also most the most elite IT people I know in HK do not qualify, what non-sense!

chimo, you are right it is pretty misleading "Voting in IT is brought to you by.... Sin Chung Kai....."

Computer world has lapped it up Sin Chung Kai's story. I wonder if they will be as kind as to give the other people competing for the constituency the same exposure.

I've added comments to the computer world story, Help elect your next Legco reps which I am sure will not get displayed. This is what I wrote

I'm sure this comment will be censored.

I wonder if you would be as kind as to give the other people competing for the IT constituency the same exposure as Sin Chung Kai has got on the back of this PR stunt. If you don't, I think you are just interfering with the elections and you should retract this story.

Do you think you could actually link the the real Voters registration site instead of Sin Chun Kai's?

    Please support fair elections!

The whole voter qualification process is broken.
I like most of the professional IT people that I respect do no qualify for voting.

If this guy actually was honest about his care of voter registrations and was not using the issue of "Poor voter registration" to market his name, face and his lackies it would we could take him seriously and consider bothering to register for voting. Right now he is doing a disservice to the Voter registration process.

Right now it just looks like a bunch of clowns with some cash are just pulling a PR stunt so that they can get Sin Chung Kai back in for another round in Legco and remain on the pulse.

If did care and mean what he says, he would setup a neutral site which people running for IT constituency could promote and his name would not be exposed in any greater favour than the other candidates.

Sin Chung Kai, please support fair elections and market yourself without ads which dupe people and without riding on the problem of poor voter registration.
