Record streaming

If I am streaming, how do i record the audio?

It's not YouTube so the youtube converter won't be any use.

I want to be able to type etc at the same time so I can't just place an MP3 nearby and hit record.

Total Recorder will record all sounds coming out of your computer. Not sure if they have a limited free trial though.

Also, depending on the streaming file/URL, you may be able to record it using VLC Media Player.
