Its all about ifs and buts.

If so many questions, just buy the latest version of the ipad air. however, check the link, they say there maybe an ultra thin ipad soon to be released. so do you wait? or do you buy the current version?

    I would wait.

I regret not getting cellular. I tether it to my mobile but I'd have liked the GPS...I'm glad I got the mini rather than the big one!!

I would buy an iPhone tomorrow if they made one somewhere between the size of the iPhone and the mini!!

Don't procrastinate on this one like you usually do

iPad 3, sturdy, fast enough etc.

I have an original ipad 2, and the one that came after that -think it is called an ipad 2, 3rd gen. Anyway, the original ipad 2 is painful after the iOS update to 7.1, scrolling is jittery, and battery life has been decimated. Have tried many fixes posted online, but it is sill not a patch on the newer ipad we have.

So my advice is get one post ipad2 original.

The 2nd ipad we have has 3g which is a nice to have, but wouldn't be a must have as we are happy using mobiles for gps etc.

My one piece of advice re children and ipads is make sure you have inapp purchases turned off, and restrictions on!

We have an iPad 2 running the latest iOS version and it's fine. I haven't noticed any jittering or reduced battery life. I've tried an iPad 3 which seemed a bit slicker, but not noticeably. All we use it for is Safari and Youtube though.

Being pedantic: A decimated battery for a device that old is still pretty good. It means that it's running at 90% of it's original capacity

    hahhahaha

yeh ok guilty... I guess I have finite funds so I do like to really think about before I spend.

but then the stuff I buy is with me for years... so I dont beat myself up about takingi my time..

I have to say all the rash non considered purchases I have regretted...

and thanks to kimy for that insight.. and to u to you

so 2nd gen Ipad 2 and onwards.. ( any idea how I would tell? )
