Email alternative needed for discussing ideas

    Hello everyone

My organisation uses Outlook for most communication. This leads to far too many emails and low working efficiency. But, I can't change any of that.

What I can try to change is some of the things I do. So, below are my needs, can anyone offer an online solution?

    1. We need to discuss a problem, and think of possible solutions, and then evaluate the solutions.
    2. While we might be able to meet in person, most of the work will be done online.
3.There will be around 10 people involved
    4. There needs to be asynchronous discussion; if there is also synchronous discussion it's an advantage, but it might not be used. A record of synchronous discussions would be needed if it is available.
    5. Some limited document storage is needed - mainly word or pdf files.
    6. I'm willing to create an account to use the service, but most other participants will not want to create an account. So, something which does not require a log in is needed.
    7. Preferably it would offer some type of email digest for those with accounts.
    8. Cost is preferably free

    Any ideas?

Google Apps for Business or Google Hangouts

Edit just saw your number 6 requirement. Don't think this is possible to not have to have an account for something like this.

    Try Slack.

Imagine all your team communication in one place, instantly searchable, available wherever you go. That’s Slack.
It is free for up to 5GB of document storage and 10,000 messages.

Thanks. Slack looks very good, but members need to create an account.

    Basecamp?

I think that ANY online service is going to require accounts. I mean, how else do you ensure any degree of security for your information or the ability for individuals to identify themselves?

    drumbrake and alph like this.

Will your organisation invest in Sharepoint? We use it very successfully in our company.

I am a fan of Trello as it naturally adds structure and identifiable progression to collective activities
