HP Compaq nx6320 not powering on

    Hi All,
I have a very old HP compaq laptop (nx6320) which is not powering on. When I turn on the laptop, it turns off immediately with a click. I know probably is it not worth spending so much to get this repaired here in Hong Kong as I had already got it repaired a few times in India. I hust need my data on the laptop, can someone help me as to how can I get the data back. I don't have any tools to do so, I would appreciate your advice if it can be done at home by just using some readily available tools etc?

    I appreciate your feedback.

    Regards
    Deepak

well a screwdriver is usually all you need to open up the back and pull out the hard drive.
As for retrieving the data after, i'd put it in a hdd enclosures which you can find in ssp or wccc, that way after you've transferred the data you can use it as an external drive.

    Exclamation Failure to start?

Can often be laid at the feet of a defective (low voltage) CMOS battery - just a few $$$s!

I've also seen failures when control circuitry will suddenly NOT accept one or more RAM strips.

Had a nice Lenovo which "died" - until I removed one of the two RAM-strips. Then it worked purrrfectly - till I tried other RAMstrips in it!

So ran it with just one strip installed.

Ahh... I see. Thank you so much! I have opened the hard disk and kept it aside now. Will look for the external enclosures in the shops and make external hard disk out of it as advised.

    Thanks again!

    Cheers
