she can use the shed as the antenna and probably pick up a lighting rod for the shed.

haha.. no comment on the small japanese house bit, but as previously mentioned you can attempt to put a wifi repeater between the access point and her shed, the closer the better the chances of her signal getting boosted.

But if you say her 3G signal doesn't get thru, there's a chance the wifi signal wont either even with the repeater, 3G signals are pretty strong.

The good thing about all this is, tell your helper this... think of all the protection she's getting from the aluminum wall, think those crazy's that live in foreign lands running around with their aluminum tin foil hats because radiation emitted from radio signals apparently causes brain tumors, there is a certain degree of truth to this.

or that the radiation emitted from her cell phone will never leave the tin hut

You could knock down the Aluminium structure and build a traditional wood one

Why get connectors? You can get the cable in any length possible.

Isn't this just a home plug solution

In the house - Lan cable to the router

In the out-house - Wifi plug

    $400 or so

It's a small Japanese house, dammit.

Worth mentioning again that the small Japanese house is probably on a different electrical circuit if it's got power. This could be problematic for homeplug/powerline adaptors, but worth trying.

Good point. For a village house each phase tends to be a ring main per floor. You could test this by flicking on / off rings in your distribution box.

Some larger apartments that have have 415v supply also have same issue with the 3 phases used for for different ring mains.
