I bought it second hand and it was in very good condition so I didn't have to pay that hefty premium. But you are right to be honest. Since our flat is only about 1000 sq ft and it's all 'hardwood' flooring, thee powerful oversized Dyson's are not really necessary. For floors, most vacuum cleaners will do the job fine.

So if I had to buy new, I would not bother paying the premium.

If we were meant to use Dyson, why did the Good Lord give us Miele?

Big Panda, thanks again. It was an easy fix but I will have to admit, I didn't do it myself this time. The shopkeeper told us to bring in the Dyson and so we did just that since it is nearby our home. Took him all of 5 minutes and only cost us $8. Now it is better than before because we don't need an adapter anymore.

    Cheers!

Yeah, I get all my plugs replaced to HK style. Hate using adaptors. I also get my multiple extension cords shortened since I place them close to the wall socket and the extra wire just gets in the way.

I'm picturing your home with loops of extension wires around the place, trimmed to their perfect lengths and it's strangely comforting.

Hate using adapters too, best to snip and change whenever practical

You know when you think you have enough, it's never enough. And the contractor charges an arm and leg to put them in. I'm pretty anal about my electrical wiring and plugs - eg. my stereo is plugged into a line direct to the fuse box - no risk of interference from other appliances like microwave or dryers.

Seriously who doesn't learn how to wire a plug these days? This is something my Dad taught me when I was about 10! Seems some basic skills are being lost in these days of throw-away consumer goods.....

I thought this when we were fitting out our office so asked for loads. The quote that came back was horrific. We cut it down by about half. I was truly surprised at the marginal cost of an extra socket or 20.
