Getting Developers to start a website

Hi I was wondering if you know anyone companies or developers who offers to build websites or platforms? I have a small business idea but would need someone to produce the website.

    Thanks

Lots of people have small business ideas, but most developers care whether you have money.

Since you appear to be fairly unaware of how this works, may be a good idea would be to work with a student from HKU or SCAD they have part time job listings for their students. A good second year student should be able to get something basic up and running for around $100-150 an hour.

If you need something complex and fancy, then there are local agencies but the costs would be much higher.

If you think it is a viable business and you have the cash to get it off the ground - oursky
If you have a rudimentary understanding of you web services work and you want to try it on the cheap - freelancers on upwork
If your page can be basically run as a simple online store and you just need a storefront, mailing and payment services - shopify or shopline

If you just want your 'brilliant idea' to be 'easily implemented' by a coder - whartonite seeks codemonkey

@er2 - upwork (in my opinion) is very risky for someone who is new to the outsourcing world.

Need to be well versed in basic project management and technology to then handle what the freelancer leaves you with. I personally think that the level of skill found on upwork (esp the "cheap indian shops") can be found in the local universities - and you get face to face contact, follow up from students who are eager to please.

    Anyways, tons of options available.

I'd also recommend sites like codecanyon.net and themeforest.net for themes / applications which can provide a quickstart to an idea and then can be modified by the developer or a freelancer.

I only recommend a student if you know exactly what you want unless that student actually has some good industry experience. If you want advice of how best to get your idea to market, I'd suggest someone with industry experience. Of course, this comes at a price.
