    LTE Router for the house

Okay, so I live where there are no fiber optics so my internet from PCCW is slow... it peaks at 6mbps while paying a rate the same as my friend with at 1,000mbps connection at North Point.

Now that there are unlimited network plans again, I got a family plan from CSL and I'll use one of the sim for my new Dlink LTE router.

I did some speed testing and here's how it came out (all using the same sim card):

    On my phone: 100mbps
On my phone as a hotspot: 50mbps
On my new LTE router: 20mbps

So I contacted CSL and they said the problem must be with my router. But I suspect it's not. It must be controlled by CSL that when it serves as a tether, it will be throttled to go slower. But this is all just a hunch. I mean, coming from a 6mbps, 20mbps is not bad at all! But still... the faster the better.

Anyone have any knowledge on this?

Which D-Link router do you have?

Phone and hotspot are not meant to be used for long periods of time. 20mbps is still pretty good. I've used Huawei routers in the past and that worked well. 20-40mbps speeds.

I am using one of these and getting about 32mbps (on Optus).

Oops... I mean the router is TP-Link Archer MR200. NOT Dlink.

What network are you using with your LTE router? 32mbps... mine plays around 13-29mbps... depending on the time, I guess.

So do you guys think it's the network that's limiting our speed or the router?

Not sure where you'd check this, but do these bands match CSL's 4G bands? May be the bands don't match and its is switching to a lower spec?

    4G: FDD-LTE B1/B3/B7/B8/B20 (2100/1800/2600/900/800MHz)
    TDD-LTE B38/B40 (2600/2300MHz)
    3G: DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS B1/B8 (2100/900MHz)
    2G: EDGE/GPRS/GSM Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900MHz)

    This is CSL...

The new csl mobile communications brand combines the best of two major networks PCCW-HKT mobile service and one2free.

The result is greater coverage and the lions share of Hong Kongs mobile communications spectrum bandwidth in the 900MHz, 1800MHz and 2600MHz bands. All this, added to ownership of a 1000Mbps optical-fiber terrestrial network+ for faster connectivity between the Internet and radio masts, amounts to a superfast and stable mobile data experience, regardless of the number of simultaneous users at any one time.

This is the TP Link Router...

    4G: FDD-LTE B1/B3/B7/B8/B20 (2100/1800/2600/900/800MHz)
    TDD-LTE B38/B40 (2600/2300MHz)
    3G: DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS B1/B8 (2100/900MHz)
    2G: EDGE/GPRS/GSM Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900MHz)

My network is CSL and I got the 6gb plan. I havne't reached 6gb yet when I was doing the testing.

This coming Friday, I'm switching to Unlimited Family Plan. That's why I'm testing router now cuz I'm excited to finally have internet at home that's faster than 6mbps!!!

    But I'm only getting 13-28mbps! T_T

It's good... but could be better!
