One stat that surprised me was 200M+ pageviews a month.

I'd kill for that sort of traffic from ANY demographic.

How much of that is from intranet type users as it is Google's Yammer

    The circles concept seemed incomprehensible.

Circles was an excellent idea I thought. Simple, intuitive and designed to address a major limitation on Facebook.

TBF I didn't use Google+ at all though.

But compare that to FB, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, etc it was pretty much the bottom of the pile.

I hear it was great for certain communities and will be sorely missed by the people who used it, however for Google it didn't get a mainstream / mass market following, and that's probably the crux. It worked on a niche level but that isn't good enough for Google.

More than the niche product argument to me this and other annoucements from the last few weeks make it seem like the McKinsey philosophies are prevailing over Google's old approach under the tech-founders.

Don't really use either but more classifications seems better to me but most of the millennials and seniors just want it simple - I guess
